So You Think You Can Dance: The Top 14 Eliminations

Thursday, July 06, 2006

So another Thursday night has arrived, and this means two more are going home on So You Think You Can Dance. This week, we were down to the top fourteen as seven couples danced on stage for America's vote on last night's show. Just who made it to the bottom three and had to dance for their lives to stay in the competition? Before we found out, we once again saw the dancers in action as they performed as a group to Footloose with a routine choreographed by Mary Murphy. Once they left the stage, we took a look back at last night's performances with our judges before we learned who had to dance on tonight's show.

The first four couples to come up tonight were all safe. The next two weren't so lucky. The first couples to hit the bottom three on tonight's show were Heidi & Ryan and Jessica & Jaymz. The latter being no surprise at all, but the first being a shocker. I really enjoyed Heidi & Ryan last night, and the judged had to for the most part. The third to end up in the bottom three is Ivan & Allison. This means Dimitry is actually safe this week in a shocker that keeps him and Ashlee safe and in the competition for another week.

When the dancers take the stage for their solos, they all show how much they are fighting for their spot on the show. However, with as much as they fight for their spot, two are still going home. As the judges deliberate, we are treated to a performance by Ne-yo. When the judges return, we learn just who is going home this week. The judges call up the women first, and we learn that Jessica will be going home tonight. I actually figured that would be the case when I saw Heidi and Allison go into the bottom three. Compared to those two, Jessica has the most to improve.

The men made it a little harder for the judges to pick. Their decision only became anonymous after a little bit of discussion amongst them. After all three dancers were brought forward and talked to we learned that Jaymz would be joining his partner in going home tonight. This means no partner changes for next week as the top twelve go at it for the top ten remaining slots following next weeks show. All in all, I think the judges got it right this week with the dancers they had to choose from. America, in my opinion, voted in the wrong couples with sending Ryan & Heidi and Allison & Ivan into the bottom three. We'll have to wait and see what happens next week.

Hi!
The song I think you are asking about (which they often play during the various slide shows of cast off girl contestants) is "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall -- it was also used in the opening credits of "The Devil Wears Prada" -- available on iTunes too!
